In October, electric cooperatives across the country take time to celebrate National Co-op Month. Indiana co-ops take it a step further by coming together across the state in a celebration called Community Day. It’s our way of giving back to the communities who built us.
Noble REMC spread its efforts across our service territory and focused this year on recreational activities that benefit our members, including organizations on our lines.
Our right-of-way crew got an early start in September by heading out to the Noble County Community Fairgrounds. A contractor had recently cut a number of large limbs off the trees surrounding the site, and our team did a great job of cleaning up and chipping the branches and brush left behind.
In early October, employees headed out to our member organizations, Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion and Mid-America Windmill Museum in Kendallville, to help with a variety of projects.
At the animal sanctuary, employees helped ready a new habitat, as well as paint surrounding fencing. Those at the museum worked to prepare landscaping for winter and stain accessibility ramps.
It was our privilege to give back to our members and community who have supported us for nearly 90 years.
