Noble REMC has been nationally recognized for safety performance. For 27 years, the REMC has received Safety Achievement from the National Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP).
All employees are trained to do their jobs with employee and public safety in mind—always. Safety is communicated to school children and adults alike with various programs and publications, including the electrical safety demonstration.
Noble REMC also promotes the outstanding safety website ~ Safe Electricity via safeelectricity.org. The Safe Electricity web site has all types of electrical safety advice and tips that are very helpful in staying safe around electricity.
Employees observe power lines for hazards daily. Lines along private right-of-way are inspected annually as well. We trim trees near power lines to prevent branches from falling on power lines causing not only outages, but the risk of fallen power lines creating a dangerous situation.
Safety information is presented in the Electric Consumerour monthly publication mailed to customers, and brochures. A small table-top electric safety demonstration is presented in area elementary schools each spring and is available for clubs or organizations too. Call 260-636-2113 or 800-933-7362 and ask for Kevin to schedule a program.
The goals of this safety program include protection of the public and employees as well as protection of equipment that saves on maintenance and insurance costs.
Call before you dig!
Avoid a dangerous and costly situation. If you’re doing any digging near where a power line may be buried, call FIRST. Many times consumers don’t know where a line may be buried. The best practice is to call and have it located to remove all doubt.
Noble REMC is a member of the Indiana Utility Underground Plant Protection Service, also known as Holey Moley! Call 811. State law requires that you give two working days notice as a lead-time. If it’s in our service territory, we will locate and mark underground lines for you for free.
